Social Security Chief Resigns Over Dispute on DOGE Data Access

Michelle King, the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), has resigned following a dispute with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) over access to beneficiary data. King, a 30-year SSA veteran, opposed DOGE’s request for financial records, citing privacy concerns.

The White House has replaced King with Leland Dudek and nominated Frank Bisignano for the permanent role. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between federal agencies and DOGE’s efforts to cut government spending.
