Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has addressed recent ceasefire discussions between the U.S. and Russia. Following a call between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Russia and Ukraine agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure for one month and begin negotiations for a broader truce.
Zelenskyy later spoke with Trump, requesting additional air defense support, which the U.S. agreed to provide. He reaffirmed Ukraine’s willingness to participate in ceasefire talks. However, both Russia and Ukraine have since accused each other of violating the temporary truce by continuing strikes on energy facilities.
Trump also proposed that the U.S. manage Ukrainian power plants, including nuclear facilities, to protect them during the conflict. Meanwhile, European leaders remain skeptical of Russia’s intentions, with Zelenskyy urging continued sanctions and international pressure to secure a lasting peace.
