U.S. Vice President JD Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three children, departed from Rome’s Ciampino Airport on Sunday evening, April 20, heading to New Delhi, India, for a four-day official visit. This marks Vance’s first trip to India since taking office.

The family is scheduled to arrive at Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi on Monday morning, April 21, where they will be officially received at 10:00 AM. Later that day, Vice President Vance will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence.

The visit will focus on strengthening U.S.–India relations, especially in trade and defense, amid ongoing negotiations to delay recently announced U.S. tariffs. India is hoping to secure a new trade agreement within the 90-day pause granted by President Trump’s administration.

The Vance family’s itinerary also includes cultural visits to Jaipur and Agra. These stops hold personal significance, as Usha Vance is of Indian descent and the trip is seen as an opportunity for their children to connect with their maternal heritage.

The visit will conclude with the family’s departure from India on Thursday, April 24.
