On the night of March 23, 2025, Ukraine and Russia carried out a series of deadly drone attacks as their war continues despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations. Meanwhile, Ukraine retaliated with a large-scale drone attack on Russia’s Engels airbase in Saratov Oblast, a key site housing strategic bombers. Russian officials reported downing 54 Ukrainian drones during the assault.
These attacks come just as peace talks begin in Saudi Arabia, with Ukraine, Russia, and U.S. officials aiming to negotiate a 30-day ceasefire. The discussions focus on securing energy infrastructure and Black Sea shipping routes. However, significant differences between Kyiv and Moscow remain, and while some express optimism, the Kremlin has signaled caution.
As both sides continue striking key targets, the effectiveness of diplomatic efforts remains uncertain, raising concerns about whether a lasting ceasefire is achievable.
