On March 10, 2025, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the revocation of security clearances for several former Biden administration officials and others involved in legal actions against former President Donald Trump. This action follows a directive from President Trump aiming to address perceived political weaponization within the intelligence community

Among those affected are former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and former Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco. Additionally, New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, both of whom pursued legal cases against Trump, have had their clearances revoked. Furthermore, the 51 former intelligence officials who signed a 2020 letter suggesting that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation” are also impacted by this decision.

In a related move, Gabbard announced that former President Joe Biden will no longer receive the President’s Daily Brief, effectively revoking his access to classified intelligence updates.

These measures have sparked controversy, with critics arguing that the revocations serve as political retribution against individuals who opposed or investigated Trump. Supporters contend that the actions are necessary to prevent the misuse of security clearances for partisan purposes.
