In an NBC News interview, former President Donald Trump voiced strong frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump criticized Putin for questioning Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s legitimacy, stating that such comments obstruct peace negotiations.
To push Russia toward a ceasefire, Trump threatened secondary tariffs of 25% to 50% on buyers of Russian oil if Moscow is found to be blocking peace efforts. He warned these measures could take effect within a month if progress isn’t made.
Despite his criticism, Trump maintained that he has a good relationship with Putin, though he stressed that cooperation is necessary for ending the conflict.
