Trump Cracks Down on Immigration with Mass Arrests

The Trump administration has intensified immigration enforcement, with ICE significantly increasing arrests. In a single day, ICE conducted 956 arrests—the highest number since Trump returned to office. However, Trump has demanded a threefold increase, setting a target of 1,200 to 1,500 arrests per day.

Raids have taken place in major cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, targeting not only criminals but also undocumented immigrants without prior offenses. Previous restrictions, such as banning arrests in schools and churches, have been lifted.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem personally participated in raids in New York, where five high-profile criminals were apprehended. The administration has also reinstated the “Remain in Mexico” policy and deployed 1,500 troops to the border.

Civil rights organizations and multiple states have filed lawsuits, arguing that these measures violate immigrants’ rights.
