On February 20, 2025, three empty buses exploded in Bat Yam, a suburb south of Tel Aviv, in what Israeli authorities suspect was a coordinated terrorist attack. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, as the buses were unoccupied. Police later discovered and safely defused two additional explosive devices in nearby Holon.
One of the unexploded devices bore a message reading “Revenge from Tulkarem,” possibly referencing recent Israeli military operations in the West Bank. No group has officially claimed responsibility, but a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel hinted at retaliation.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered intensified military operations in the West Bank. Defense Minister Israel Katz has also heightened security measures, including the temporary suspension of public transportation for thorough safety inspections.
Authorities remain on high alert as investigations continue, urging the public to stay vigilant.
