Authorities confirmed that the mall resumed normal operations on Saturday following a large-scale police response and an hours-long lockdown. The incident, which sent a wave of panic through one of the Bay Area’s busiest shopping destinations, has sparked renewed conversations about mall security and holiday weekend safety.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the shooting unfolded late Friday evening during one of the mall’s peak shopping periods. Officers were dispatched to the scene after multiple 911 callers reported gunfire inside the center. When police arrived, they found widespread panic as shoppers rushed for exits, sheltered inside stores, or barricaded themselves behind locked gates while awaiting instructions from mall security.
