On January 31, 2025, a Learjet 55 medical evacuation plane operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance crashed in a Philadelphia neighborhood shortly after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The plane was en route to Tijuana, Mexico, with a scheduled stop in Missouri. Onboard were six people: four crew members, a pediatric patient, and the child’s mother. The crash caused a massive explosion, engulfing several homes and vehicles near Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue, resulting in casualties on the ground. Sadly, there were no survivors from the plane. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the accident. This marks the second fatal crash involving Jet Rescue Air Ambulance in the past 15 months, raising concerns about the company’s safety protocols.
