Elon Musk Forms ‘America Party’ After Trump Signs Massive Spending Bill
In a dramatic political twist, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced the creation of a new political movement—the America Party—following his public opposition to President Donald Trump’s recently passed Big, Beautiful Bill, a $3.3 trillion tax and spending package.
Musk made the announcement via his social platform, X, on July 5. He cited a user poll where nearly 65% of 1.2 million participants voted in favor of creating a new party. “The people have spoken. You want a new political force—and you shall have it,” Musk wrote.
The timing of the announcement was deliberate. Just a day prior, Trump signed into law a sweeping economic bill that Musk has openly criticized as irresponsible, inflationary, and filled with “waste and graft.” The America Party, according to Musk, will prioritize fiscal responsibility, military modernization, pro-birth incentives, and technological innovation—in direct contrast to what he sees as bloated federal spending.
🎯 Not A Presidential Bid—Yet
Despite public speculation, Musk clarified he won’t run for president in 2028. Instead, the America Party plans to focus on key Senate and House races in 2026, aiming to win 2–3 Senate seats and 8–10 House districts to act as a legislative swing vote. The goal: reshape policy through targeted influence, not top-down power.
🗣️ Trump Responds With Fury
The president did not take Musk’s political maneuver lightly. Trump slammed the new party as “ridiculous” and accused Musk of “going off the rails.” According to insiders, Trump believes the rift began after the bill included rollbacks on electric vehicle tax credits—directly impacting Tesla’s market position.
📉 Wall Street Reacts
Markets didn’t respond kindly. Tesla shares dropped nearly 8%, with analysts warning that Musk’s political ambitions could distract from core business operations. Financial firms, including Azoria Partners, even postponed the launch of a Tesla-focused ETF, citing concerns over Musk’s divided attention.
🧱 Third-Party Challenges Ahead
Political experts caution that forming a third party is no small feat. Legal hurdles such as ballot access laws, campaign finance complexities, and entrenched two-party dominance make it an uphill battle. However, Musk’s massive personal wealth and social influence could give him a head start where others have failed.
🇺🇸 A New Force in American Politics?
The America Party enters the arena with a mix of tech-driven optimism and anti-establishment energy. While still in early stages—no official FEC filings or leadership teams have been announced—the movement has already sparked fierce national debate.
As the 2026 midterm elections approach, all eyes will be on whether Musk’s America Party can convert online momentum into real political power—or if it will become another fleeting third-party experiment in U.S. history.
