Musk Advocates for Zero Tariffs Between U.S. and Europe

Elon Musk, a key advisor to President Donald Trump, has called for the United States and Europe to eliminate tariffs, proposing a “zero-tariff situation” to foster closer economic ties between the two regions. Speaking at a virtual event for Italy’s League Party congress in Florence, Musk stated, “I hope both Europe and the U.S. can eventually move towards a zero-tariff framework.”

His comments come as global markets continue to react negatively to recent U.S. tariffs, with major stock indices like the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq experiencing significant declines. Musk emphasized that reducing trade barriers would promote freer exchange and help stabilize the economy, which has been strained by ongoing trade tensions.

Beyond tariffs, Musk also voiced support for greater labor mobility, suggesting that individuals should have the freedom to work across both Europe and North America without restrictions. This viewpoint contrasts with the current administration’s more protectionist policies.

Musk’s remarks underline a push for greater international cooperation and economic integration, diverging from Trump’s tariff-heavy approach.
