U.S. District Judge James Boasberg has sharply criticized the Trump administration for its inadequate response regarding the deportation of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador. Despite a court order to halt these deportations, the administration proceeded, citing the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
The judge condemned the Justice Department’s explanations as “woefully insufficient” and accused officials of evading their legal responsibilities. Boasberg has now ordered the DOJ to submit a more detailed account by March 25 and clarify whether they intend to invoke the state secrets privilege to withhold information.
This ruling adds to growing legal scrutiny over the administration’s immigration policies, raising concerns about transparency and compliance with court orders.
