However, new video evidence and survivor testimonies have contradicted this account, showing that the vehicles were clearly marked ambulances with emergency lights.
The IDF has since acknowledged the possibility of errors in their earlier report and is investigating the incident. The revised account has sparked widespread international criticism, with humanitarian organizations and the United Nations calling for a full independent investigation. They emphasize that the medics were working to save lives, not participate in combat.
