Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement, mediated by Qatar, to release hostages and permit displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza. As part of the deal, Hamas will release three Israeli hostages, including civilian Arbel Yehud, by Thursday. In return, Israel will allow Palestinians to return to their homes in northern Gaza starting Monday.
This agreement follows earlier incidents, including the release of four female Israeli soldiers by Hamas, which temporarily delayed Israel’s withdrawal from the Netzarim corridor and led to clashes, resulting in two deaths and nine injuries. The current deal is part of broader ceasefire negotiations, which may include additional prisoner exchanges.
The conflict has caused significant humanitarian challenges, with thousands killed and widespread displacement. The international community is monitoring the situation, viewing the agreement as a potential step toward easing tensions and addressing urgent humanitarian concerns.
