Iran Issues Dire Warning After US Airstrikes, Declares End of Diplomacy
In a bold and fiery statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian territory, describing them as a “criminal violation of international law” and a grave threat to global stability. Speaking in Istanbul following the coordinated assault on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, Araghchi accused the United States and its allies of crossing a red line that will have “everlasting consequences.”
The attacks, which reportedly targeted key nuclear facilities including the highly fortified Fordow complex, have drawn immediate backlash from Tehran. Araghchi stated unequivocally that Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, implying that military retaliation is firmly on the table.
“This aggression is not just an attack on Iran,” he declared. “It is a blatant assault on international norms, the UN Charter, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).” He criticized Washington’s reliance on brute force, saying, “U.S. leaders only understand the language of threat and coercion.”
This sharp escalation in rhetoric signals a collapse in diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington. According to Araghchi, any remaining channels for peaceful negotiation have been “completely wrecked” by this unprovoked military act. “The door to diplomacy,” he warned, “is now closed.”
Adding to the seriousness of the situation, Araghchi revealed that Iran is currently engaging in high-level talks with Russian officials, aiming to coordinate a broader regional response. He urged the United Nations and the international community to act swiftly to prevent the situation from spiraling into wider conflict. “The world must not remain silent in the face of such unlawful aggression,” he said.
The strikes come amid already high tensions in the region, following a series of provocations and indirect clashes between U.S.-backed forces and Iranian proxies. Analysts fear that this latest round of hostilities could ignite a new phase of Middle East conflict, with Iran–U.S. relations now at their lowest point in years.
Araghchi’s use of the term “everlasting consequences” is widely interpreted as a signal of long-term strategic retaliation, potentially including cyberattacks, proxy warfare, or a ramping up of uranium enrichment in defiance of previous agreements.
