ICE Arrests Over 500 Immigrants Amid Trump’s Focus on Disaster Recovery

During President Donald Trump’s visit to disaster-stricken states, ICE carried out large-scale immigration enforcement operations, arresting over 500 individuals across major cities like New York, Boston, and Chicago. Those detained included suspects involved in terrorism, members of the Venezuelan gang “Tren de Aragua,” and individuals convicted of serious crimes, such as sexual offenses against minors.

The administration labeled the operations as historic, emphasizing the use of military aircraft for deportations, a practice not seen since the 1950s. However, some analysts argue these actions are consistent with prior immigration enforcement patterns.

While Trump pledged federal support for natural disaster recovery, his simultaneous push for intensified immigration enforcement sparked a mix of support and criticism, showcasing his dual focus on national security and disaster relief.
