A House Republican lawmaker has sharply criticized the Senate’s recent budget proposal, calling it “woefully short” and “disappointing.” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) expressed frustration, arguing that the Senate’s plan fails to address key fiscal concerns and does not go far enough in cutting spending.

Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), the House Budget Chairman, also slammed the Senate’s proposal, calling it “unserious” with only $4 billion in enforceable spending cuts while proposing over $5.8 trillion in new spending. Conservative members of the House, including Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Lloyd Smucker (R-Pennsylvania), have joined in criticizing the proposal for lacking significant deficit reduction measures.

The Senate budget framework includes over $5 trillion in tax cuts over the next decade, with a focus on tax relief, border security, and national defense. However, it delays making decisions on spending cuts, a point of contention with House conservatives who are pushing for stricter fiscal discipline.

Despite the opposition, House GOP leaders are working to pass the Senate’s budget plan in the coming days, arguing that it is essential for advancing broader legislative goals, including tax reform, border policy, and energy initiatives. The divisions between the House and Senate highlight ongoing debates within the Republican Party over fiscal priorities.
