Herriman Residents Stunned After SUV Crash Sparks Explosion at Local Strip Mall

A quiet Saturday night in Herriman, Utah, was shattered by a dramatic crash, fire, and explosion that tore through a local strip mall, leaving several injured and businesses destroyed. Witnesses describe a terrifying scene as an SUV slammed into the building, triggering a gas leak and massive blaze that could be seen for miles.

đźš— Chain-Reaction Crash Ends in Chaos

At around 11 p.m., a three-car collision near 13400 South and 5200 West led to one SUV crashing directly into a commercial building that houses Domino’s Pizza, Jimmy John’s, and Supercuts.

“We heard the crash, then a loud hissing sound, and within seconds—BOOM. The sky lit up orange,” said one local store employee who had just locked up.

The impact reportedly ruptured a gas line, causing a fire that quickly escalated into a devastating explosion. Fire crews and police rushed to the scene within minutes.

🔥 Explosion Engulfs the Strip Mall

The Unified Fire Authority dispatched over 60 firefighters as flames ripped through the structure.
A video captured by a witness shows the building engulfed in fire, with glass and debris raining down after the explosion.

By 1 a.m., emergency responders had secured the gas line and contained the fire, but not before the Domino’s was destroyed, and neighboring businesses suffered severe damage. Officials confirmed that no water supply was affected, and nearby homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution.

👨‍🚒 Heroic Rescues in the Heat of the Moment

In the moments before the fire spread, two bystanders bravely pulled the SUV driver and a passenger to safety, narrowly avoiding tragedy. Three individuals were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“They saved those people’s lives. It was only seconds before the entire front of the building was on fire,” said a witness.

No first responders were hurt, thanks to a coordinated and rapid response from Herriman police and fire departments.
