Drone footage reveals the extensive destruction in Malibu caused by the Palisades Fire, which has burned nearly 30,000 acres since igniting in early January 2025. Aerial views show entire beachfront properties along the Pacific Coast Highway reduced to rubble, with only charred remains of homes and vegetation visible. The fire forced the evacuation of over 130,000 residents as strong Santa Ana winds, with gusts over 100 mph, complicated firefighting efforts.

As of January 16, the fire was only 22% contained, prompting California Governor Gavin Newsom to deploy the National Guard and request assistance from neighboring counties. Firefighters, including those trained through the California Conservation Camp Program, continue battling the blaze under challenging conditions.

Malibu now resembles a war zone, with stark contrasts between decimated neighborhoods and a few surviving structures. The footage highlights the daunting task residents face in rebuilding their lives after such immense destruction.
