Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has issued a fierce public condemnation of the Republican-led “One Big Beautiful Bill,” warning that the legislation would not only devastate U.S. jobs but also inflict long-term strategic harm on the country’s future.
Musk, who previously served as an advisor to the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before resigning, is now sounding the alarm over what he calls an “utterly insane and destructive” proposal.
🚨 “This Bill Will Destroy Jobs and America’s Future”
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk criticized the bill for funneling resources toward outdated industries, while stripping support from innovative sectors like clean energy, AI, and advanced manufacturing.
“This bill is political suicide,” Musk wrote. “It sacrifices the industries of the future for the comfort of entrenched special interests. Millions of jobs will be lost.”
He warned that the bill’s tax and spending structure could cripple U.S. competitiveness, undermine tech growth, and lead to an innovation exodus as emerging companies seek more supportive environments overseas.
📉 Economic Fallout: Trillions in Debt, Zero Vision
Musk also targeted the bill’s fiscal impact. The Congressional Budget Office and independent analysts estimate the legislation could add $3–4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.
He previously referred to the legislation as a “disgusting abomination” for being bloated with “pork-barrel spending” and subsidies for fossil fuel and legacy manufacturing industries.
“We should be investing in the future—AI, space, renewables—not doubling down on the 1950s,” Musk tweeted. “This bill does the opposite.”
⚠️ Strategic Consequences: A Step Backward
According to Musk, the bill undermines U.S. energy independence and innovation leadership by cutting funding for clean energy development and slashing electric vehicle incentives—while offering tax breaks for coal, gas, and oil producers.
He framed the bill as a national security risk, saying it would leave America strategically vulnerable in sectors that drive modern defense, energy, and communication.
💥 A Break with Trump & the GOP
Musk’s sharp criticism is notable given his past ties to the Trump administration. His resignation from DOGE earlier this year signaled a growing rift, but this public opposition marks a definitive political break.
While the GOP attempts to hold the line and pass the bill before the July 4 deadline, Musk’s comments have added momentum to bipartisan opposition—from environmental groups, business leaders, and some fiscal conservatives in the Senate.
