Can Europe Arm Ukraine After U.S. Halts Military Aid?

Europe has the ability to continue supplying Ukraine with weapons, but it faces significant challenges. The European Union and individual countries like Germany, France, and the UK have already been providing military aid through initiatives such as the European Peace Facility (EPF). However, replacing U.S. support—which has been the largest and most advanced—will not be easy.

Logistical issues, financial constraints, and concerns about depleting domestic stockpiles could limit Europe’s ability to fully compensate for the loss of American aid. Political divisions within the EU may also slow decision-making.

Despite these obstacles, European leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine. The key question is whether they can increase arms production and coordination quickly enough to fill the gap left by the U.S.
