U.S. Senator Rand Paul has sharply criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) over its handling of the long-awaited release of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reigniting a national debate over government transparency, accountability, and public trust.
In recent media appearances, the Kentucky Republican argued that the DOJ’s partial and heavily redacted release of the Epstein files falls far short of what the American people were promised under federal law. According to Paul, the selective disclosure has only deepened public suspicion and damaged confidence in the justice system.
“The American people were told the truth would come out,” Paul said, warning that releasing incomplete records creates more questions than answers. He emphasized that transparency is not optional when Congress has passed legislation explicitly requiring disclosure.
The controversy centers on a law mandating the Department of Justice to release all unclassified documents connected to Epstein’s criminal investigations. However, Rand Paul remains unconvinced. He has called on Attorney General leadership to immediately clarify what documents remain unreleased and why. Without clear answers, Paul warns that the Epstein files controversy could continue to erode trust in federal institutions.
