On February 25, 2025, 21 employees from the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) resigned in protest against policies they claimed would “dismantle critical public services.” Formerly known as the U.S. Digital Service, DOGE was rebranded under President Trump, with Elon Musk advising on government streamlining efforts.

The resigning staff cited concerns over job cuts, security risks, and controversial efficiency mandates. The White House dismissed the resignations, calling them resistance to government restructuring. The departures signal ongoing tensions over the administration’s push for smaller government.
